The children of St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, Doncaster were privileged to be allowed to lay their wreath at the cenotaph in Doncaster with the civic party on 13 November.
The pupils, having learnt about World Wars 1 and 2, were keen to honour the memory of those who had made a sacrifice for them. The group of sixteen children were joined by their teachers and Fr Darren Reid, parish priest of St Peter-in-Chains, Doncaster.
The children all enjoyed the opportunity to take part in a large community event and to offer their thanks to the forces. As well as acknowledging the sacrifice of service men and women in both the world wars, the pupils were pleased to be able to celebrate the achievements and bravery of local veteran, Ben Parkinson, with the rest of the community.
