Pope Francis

Pope Francis has called for a “Revolution of Tenderness” and has challenged us all to see and hear each other and to respond with words and actions of love.

St Vincent de Paul

The community that makes up St Vincent’s Furniture Store has been working in just this way for thirty years now.

On the Feast of St Vincent de Paul a special Mass was celebrated to mark this significant anniversary.

St Vincent’s Furniture Store 30th Anniversary Mass

On Wednesday, 27 September, the feast of our patron, St Vincent de Paul, a Mass was celebrated at St Vincent’s Furniture Store to mark our 30th Anniversary.

Bishop Ralph, Fr Andrew Browne, Fr Shaun Smith and Mgr Kilgannon concelebrated the Mass and it was a joyous occasion.

Bishop Ralph also commented that the founding principle of the Furniture Store was the notion of recognising Christ in the poor and responding to their needs, and this remains the guiding principle today.

When you visit our website the first thing you see is ‘30 Years and Still Going Strong’.  Bishop Ralph said that we are obviously proud and delighted to have reached this significant milestone and we should be, for the service we provide has made it possible for many people, perhaps already written off by some, to turn their lives around and make new beginnings.

The celebration of the Mass and the fact that it was held at the Store, where all the hard work is carried out by staff and volunteers, made the evening all the more meaningful.

The Staff, Volunteers and Management Committee would like to thank everyone who attended on the night.  Without your help and support we would not be able to carry out our vital work, which is as much needed today as when St Vincent walked this earth.

Bishop Ralph’s words sum it all up ~ “May the Lord who began this good work, and who sustains it day by day, bring it to completion.”
