This certificate is validated by the Board of Religious Studies of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales and is highly recommended as an introduction to theology for teachers, catechists and all adults wanting to explore their understanding of faith.

The course is taught by theologically-qualified tutors at the Pastoral Centre on eight Saturday mornings a year for two years.  Sessions include a mix of teaching, discussion, exercises and reflection on the Bible, Jesus Christ, the Church, Sacraments and Morality.  Two specialist modules are chosen, including an option for professional development modules in Catholic religious education.  In 2015, Hallam introduced a new module looking at Celtic and Anglo-Saxon Christianity, which included saints such as Patrick, Bridget, Cuthbert, Bede and Hilda, and proved very popular.

There will be an introductory evening at the Pastoral Centre on Thursday, 22 September, 7.30-9pm, and the first teaching session will be on Saturday, 8 October, 9am-2pm.
